If you all will recall president’s weekend 2011, you’ll know that I spent it resting, relaxing, and playing softball in Dakar. This year the tournament was moved forward to January to avoid conflicting with Senegalese elections, and at the last minute, I decided to go (to stave off boredom in Brikama – The University is on holiday).
Most of you know I’m the worlds worst photo taker (I just don’t take photos) so this photo is borrowed from a fellow volunteer. This is the 2012 Peace Corps The Gambia WAIST teams, A and B. Team A, the “serious” team went on to win 2nd place, moving up from last year’s 3rd! Team B, the “fun team” was lucky to field a full team at any point in the tournament.

This year, I didn’t go to all the social events, but instead focused on eating as much ice cream and good food as possible. Dakar has a place called N’ice Cream, with numerous delicious flavours of ice cream. I was there 4 out of 5 days. There was also trampolining by the beach, and a lot of mid-day napping.
(See those buildings in the back of the photo? They’re apartment buildings and are taller than ANYTHING we have in The Gambia. Man, Dakar is like a real city.)
